About this course
The course is designed to enhance clinical skills for those working in the mental health profession or wishing to work with families and systems.
It can be taken as a standalone course offering knowledge and skills, or as an entry-level qualification for the Intermediate course in Family Therapy and Systemic Practice.
Course requirements include one practice essay, reading logs and homework tasks set by tutors.
Skills You will Learn
At the end of the year 1 Foundation level course, you should be able to apply systemic ideas to your clinical work, enhance your knowledge of systemic ideas and have a toolbox of techniques and theoretical ideas for your clinical work.
After passing Year 1 you will be able to apply for the intermediate year training (Year 2).
Structure of the Day
The Foundation Year Course (Year 1) is online and runs on Fridays 9am-1pm fortnightly with a break.
The first part is didactic teaching, and the second part of the morning is experiential exercises and paper presentation.
Target Audience
- Up to a degree level qualification Experience of working with families or family context and group or organisational systems.
- Prior professional qualification in health/mental health/social care.
